Kaylee’s Main Street Grapevine Senior Photos

posted in: Seniors | 0

Wanna know a secret? Senior photos are some of my favorite photos to shoot! I just love portraying the personalities of the seniors I photograph, all of whom have been so vibrant and fun. Kaylee was no exception to this rule. It was so fun to walk down Main Street, Grapevine with Kaylee and her mom. I could go on and on about Kaylee– she is beautiful, fun, intelligent, kind, mature–I know she makes her family proud! Kaylee told me she will be serving a year of missionary work after graduating. I was not surprised to hear this–not only that she has a solid plan for the future, but that it involves giving to others. Congratulations, Kaylee!

Clare’s Senior Photos

posted in: Portraits, Seniors | 0

The lovely, vibrant Clare is graduating on Saturday! I met her and her mother last night for senior photos. It has been raining and storming for weeks now, so we jumped at the chance to take advantage of the sunny day yesterday. I had so much fun photographing Clare, and I just loved the outfits she picked out (gotta have those cowgirl boots!). Besides being impeccably fashionable, I found out that Clare is also quite sporty. She played basketball, volleyball and softball during her high school years. Congratulations, Clare, your future looks bright!

One Year Old Bluebonnet Session

posted in: Baby, Family | 0

I just love spring in Texas–the cool temperatures, verdant greens, and best of all, the wildflowers! When a sweet little boy has a birthday this time of year, bluebonnet photos are a must! Thomas just turned one. Last time I photographed this family, he was six months old. It is so awesome to see how much he’s grown! He’s walking now, and watching him tottering around losing his balance and tumbling into the flowers– it was stinkin’ adorable. Another big difference is how striking the color of his hair has gotten–this little guy’s red head and the bright blue flowers made for an awesome color combination! Of course I can’t neglect to mention Nathanial and Geralyn. They are still as cool as ever, and it’s always a pleasure to hang out with them! The night we took these photos I got to relish another Texas experience — an intense, booming thunderstorm! We finished up before it started coming down, but I think you can see some ominous purple tones in the sky in some of these pictures. Like Texas in the spring, this family is pleasant and bright, and a lot of fun!

Baby Adelina

posted in: Baby, Family | 0

Introducing Baby Adelina! I had the honor of photographing this sweet little girl at just 7 days old. Naturally, Mary Clare and Damian simply adore this beautiful girl. When the baby was getting tired, Damian stepped in to walk her around. Mary Clare told me that her husband often gets the baby to sleep this way. This time, however, Adelina rewarded him a little surprise of her own (one of the dangers of diaper-less newborn photos!). Both parents took it so well, and were totally cracking up as they cleaned up the areas of collateral damage. Seeing their good-humored reaction to the mishap, I can tell these two have what it takes to be great parents!
About a week after our newborn session, we met up for some bluebonnet photos, which I thought was an awesome idea! What better way to commemorate the time of year that this beautiful girl was born? Congratulations, Damian and Mary Clare! You will be wonderful parents!

Family, Easter, Bluebonnets Galore!

posted in: Family, Uncategorized | 0

My blog has become overgrown with bluebonnets, and I am loving it! This time of year is amazing! It’s as if Texas knows it’s Eastertide, and decorates accordingly!

You may remember this family from a previous post. This time, I got to take some fresh and fun Easter pictures. Their bright personalities perfectly complemented the vibrant flower field.

Since I last photographed this awesome family, I have started following Taylor Marshall’s blog. Great stuff!

Veronica

Last week I wanted to practice some photography techniques, so I asked Veronica to be my model. We traipsed over to a bluebonnet field that Zach had spotted from his classroom window (way to look out, honey!) Veronica’s style is so classic and her expressions are intense and gorgeous. She was super awesome about the whole thing.

Isn’t her hair amazing? Those CURLS! And I love the color! Note to self: Not the best idea to ask your model if they have heard of there being snakes in bluebonnet fields, and then ask them to lie down in a bluebonnet field…

Don’t worry, we didn’t see any snakes!

Easter Bluebonnets

posted in: Baby, Family | 2

This is my first spring in Texas, and my first experience of the bluebonnets! Spring is quickly turning out to be my favorite Texas season.

The bluebonnets are just in time for Easter pictures. I met Travis, Tricia and Edmund in a azure speckled field. Edmund is one happy baby. He always greats me with a huge, open mouthed, toothless smile that often has just a hint of cheesiness. Actually it looks something like this:

Travis and Tricia are such chill parents. Tricia is absolutely hilarious. She’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind, and her brutal honesty about everything (herself included) cracks me up. Check out her blog here.

Dorothy & Michael

posted in: Couples, Engagements | 4

Dorothy and Michael are so in sync, it’s like they have been married for years. Their story is classic; they have known each other since they were about 12. I asked them once if it was love at first sight, to which Dorothy responded with a smirk that when they first met she thought Michael was short. This kind of playful levity is characteristic of their dynamic. In addition, they share a peacefulness that is a testimony to the stability of their relationship. These two are meant to be! Congratulations, Dorothy and Michael!

A Day in Downtown Grapevine

posted in: Personal, Places, Portraits | 2

Historic downtown Grapevine provided the setting for my Friday adventure with Anne and Ria last weekend. I love 1800’s architecture –my hometown, Helena, Montana, has tons of it, including a downtown walking mall–and so naturally when I heard Grapevine had a historic district, I had to check it out! Anne is always up for exploring with me and so off we went! We wandered down Main street, threading in and out of boutiques, and stopping for coffee at Main Street Bakery, as we took in the sights. Anne graciously modeled for me as I took pictures of anything and everything.

Ria was a little trooper being pushed around in the umbrella stoller! Here are two pics of her from early and later in the day. Her face in the second picture cracks me up! Looks like in the end she was done putting up with our shenanigans! Here’s one for the super sleuths out there: what’s missing in the second picture?
